I love Jerry D Young stories!! It has the right balance to light and heavy... as in it's not too fluffy but it's not going to give you nightmares. One thing about the stories is that the person always has a bunch of money and knowledge. Hhmm.. I hope if something ever happens then I am with someone like that cause I have neither lol

The most infamous unproduced science fiction screenplay
By Lawrance Bernabo
Many, many years ago I happened to hear an audio tape of Harlan Ellison reading the first part of his "I, Robot" script for a Science-Fiction convention, so I was very happy to see that what may well be the most infamous unproduced script in Hollywood history is available in print. The artwork in this illustrated screenplay is by Mark Zug, and consists of both color paintings and black & white character sketches that help to flesh out your mental images.
Ellison takes several of Isaac Asimov's classic Robot short stories and weaves them into the life story of Susan Calvin, told in flashbacks to a reporter at the funeral for Stephen Byerley, First President of the Galactic Federation. Consequently, Ellison avoids the traditional pitfall of omnibus movies, such as "Tales from the Crypt," "The Twilight Zone" or "Creepshow," where whatever is used to link the segments together is of no importance to the overall film.
Ellison's introductory essay is certainly not as vitriolic as his story about what happened to his "Star Trek" script "The City on the Edge of Forever," but it does recount the bizzaro world of movie making. Both the essay and the script are testaments to Ellison's affection for Asimov. A special treat is Ellison's revelation as to the casting he had in mind when he wrote the script: Joanne Woodward as Susan Calvin, George C. Scott as Reverend Soldah, Martin Sheen as Robert Bratenahl, and Keenan Wynn and Ernest Borgnine as Donovan and Powell.
You may come to this book as a fan of Ellison or of Asimov or of both. Regardless of your point of origin I think it is important that you have read the original Asimov Robot stories before you read the script. The stories are Asimov's but the adaptation is Ellison's, and you have to know the original tales to appreciate the inspired organization of this script.

Of course, now that there is a Will Smith movie version of "I, Robot" out, reading Ellison's script and comparing it to what Hollywood has wrought is a perfect case study of what Tinsle Town is all about. At the start of "I, Robot" the three laws of robotics appear one by one, imposed over bubbling water, which had better be an intentional homage to the start of Ellison's screenplay where the three laws appear over the bubbling water of a highly advanced liquid memory system or I see a lawsuit coming.

A blockbuster we'll never see...
By Donald A. Ketchek
With the release of the new I, Robot movie, there are probably a lot of people confused by the different versions of I, Robot that exist. If you are a fan of Isaac Asimov's works, then you should probably steer clear of the new movie starring Will Smith. Published accounts I have read have indicated that the studio acquired the rights to the I, Robot stories and then took an already existing script (having nothing to do with Asimov's stories) changed some character's names, and added the three laws of robotics. Hardly, does justice to some of the most famous science fiction stories ever written.

However, years ago, Harlan Ellison did write a screenplay for an I, Robot movie, that does keep to the spirit of the Asimov stories. In fact, in this reviewer's opinion, this screenplay ties the stories together and adds a level of emotion that make it more powerful and memorable than Asimov's original book version. The character of Susan Calvin is, little by little, given real depth - and her saga will bring a tear to your eye on more than one occasion.

Despite the fact that it is written as a screenplay, making it somewhat more awkward to read than straight prose, once you begin to read, it is impossible to put down. I read it in one sitting, in the time it took to...well...watch a movie.

Upon completion, part of me was sad that this was not the version that was filmed, for it would have been a classic movie. But, I am grateful that this illustrated screenplay version exists. Do yourself a favor and buy it. As you read, it will become your own personal blockbuster, whose images will remain in your heart and mind long after the lights come up in your local theater. And we have Harlan Ellison to thank for it.

An unfilmed screenplay superior to many finished SF films.
By A Customer
Harlan Ellison's adaptation of Isaac Asimov's classic
"I, Robot" stories for the screen answers many questions
posed by science fiction readers for years; most notably,
why nobody has ever made Asimov's trademark Robot stories
into a film. The answer, as well as how Ellison came to
write the screenplay, is recanted in the book's
Introduction and is a fascinating story unto itself, filled
with all of the elements of one of Ellison's dangerous
visions--hope, fear, rage, and retribution.

But "I, Robot" is not about Ellison's angst, it's about
Asimov's shining vision of the future, in which human
want is alleviated by sophisticated robots powered by
intricate positronic brains (it was Asimov and not "Star
Trek" who gave us that term). In Asimov's tomorrow,
robots are capable of performing every kind of menial task
and quite a few complex intellectual tasks as well--which
often manifest themselves unexpectedly and with surprising
consequences for their human masters.

Asimov was not the first science fiction writer to conceive
such a future, but he was the first to give it viability in
the shape of the famous Three Laws of Robotics, which
imposed a humanitarian discipline upon all of his creations.
More importantly, the limits of the Three Laws (as they are
affectionately known) imposed an unbreakable literary
discipline upon the author himself, which served to hone
his imagination and talents.

Ellison's screenplay opens with an on-screen incantation of
the Three Laws, which were recited like a mantra at the
opening of every Asimov Robot tale. From this familiar
introduction, guaranteed to endear him to Asimov loyalists
everywhere, Ellison launches into a taut, deftly plotted,
and wholly original science fiction yarn of considerably
greater depth than most of today's Spielberg-style
blockbusters.

Ellison has a daunting task--how to interweave several of
Asimov's short stories into a cohesive whole without
resorting to episodic cliches. He does this by building
his movie around the central figure of most of the Robot
stories, Dr. Susan Calvin. Calvin is a robopsychologist, a
specialist in the arcane thought processes of positronic
brains, a woman who can explain all facets of robot
behavior but is unable to come to grips with her own human frailities.

Asimov's stories in this vein focused on Calvin at various
stages of her life and career. Ellison takes his cue from
Asimov and goes him one better; he ties the Calvin
chronology together with the story of investigative
reporter Robert Bratenahl's search for Calvin after a
passing glimpse of the aging, reclusive scientist at the
funeral of a celebrated colleague, Stephen Byerley.
Bratenahl's chance encounter sends him on an odyssey around
the world and across space in search of surviving sources
who can shed some light on Susan Calvin's life story.
This familiar narrative technique, first used by Orson
Welles to cement "Citizen Kane" together, loses none of its
grip when judiciously applied by Ellison.

When it comes to retelling Asimov's stories, Ellison gives
the Good Doctor center stage. Plot changes, where they
were made, are usually done to maintain continuity and
speed the progression of the film. With a strong female
protagonist, Ellison avoids the obvious temptation to
inject sex into the story and preserves Asimov's original
characterization of Calvin as plain-looking, rigid, and
unmistakably brilliant. The robots, too, are visualized in
much the same manner as in the stories--large, imposing
machines designed for purpose and practicality, primarily
humanoid, but largely devoid of any humanizing physical
characteristics. The colorful illustrations by Mark Zug
help the reader visualize the plot line and keep track of
what's going on.

This is especially important when one considers that this
book--like all screenplays--was never really meant to be
read, but seen. The screenplay format, calling for camera
shots and transitions in the middle of scenes, can be
distracting at times, but readers who stick with it
are not only in for a fine story but also for some rare
instruction on screen writing. Here is a chance to see for
yourself what a real, feature-length movie blueprint looks
and reads like. If nothing else, you should come away
from the experience with new respect for actors. The
difficulties of memorizing hundreds of pages of dialogue
will be made quite apparent after reading "I, Robot."

The only disappointing thing about this book is that we
have to get the story in book form, and not on the screen
as it was meant to be. Ellison spits venom at Tinseltown
for abandoning the script; it was completed, in fact, in
1978! But if you're a science fiction reader, a film buff,
an aspiring writer, or just curious about how scripts are
written, then Hollywood's loss will be your gain. Who
knows? In book form, "I, Robot" could prove so popular that
Hollywood might option the rights to it--for real this time.

Piece de Resistance: A Novel (French Twist Book 3), by Sandra Byrd

Book Three in the French Twist Series.

Having earned her chef’s hat, Lexi Stuart bids au revoir to her glamorous and deliciously satisfying pastry mentorship outside of Paris and returns to her hometown of Seattle, Washington. There, she finds life unexpectedly complicated.

She’s put in charge of a high-end catering bakery called Bijoux, which should be her dream job, but there’s a catch: She has to make this lavish bakery into a successful business in just a few, short months, which will require more than her ability to make an amazing wedding cake. In over her head and at a loss for creative marketing ideas, Lexi isn’t sure what the recipe for success needs to be.

Stir in a complicated relationship with her French beau Philippe and his daughter, Celine, then add a dash of romance with down-to-earth lawyer Dan, and life suddenly contains more ooh la la than Lexi can handle.

With the fate of her career and her love life hanging by a thread, the phrase “piece of cake” has never been more daunting. Lexi learns that she must trust the dreams in her heart as well as the God who put them there.

This book is written from a lightly Christian worldview.

The audible version of this book is narrated by Sophie Amoss.

Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask.
Everything you want also wants you.
But you have to take action to get it.
Jules Renard

If I had known exactly where and in what kind of trouble I was about to land, I’d have stayed in Paris.

“Come on, dear.” A wizened woman dragged a shuffling friend past me and down the long carpeted hallway. “We don’t want to get in the way of Rosa’s granddaughter, even if she’s sitting on our couch.” She threw a dirty look over her shoulder.

I started to stand up and get out of her way, but she disdainfully waved me back into my seat.

“WHO?” her friend shouted as I sank back down.

“ROSA’S GRANDDAUGHTER. She’s sprawling on our couch.” I flinched at the vocal hurricane, but no one else seemed to notice. Or maybe they just couldn’t hear it.

For the time being, I was crashing at the guest apartment at my nonna’s retirement community. Where else could I get in on such short notice? It was twenty dollars a night, and only for a week or so…I hoped. “Well, they do have a lot of singles,” I’d told my best friend, Tanya, as she laughed at the news. “And they do love what’s left of life.”

“I think it’s cute,” she’d said. “You can get a personalized pill container and swap horrible doctor stories.”

“Ha ha,” I’d answered. “Be careful, or I’ll hold your bridal shower there on bingo night.”

I’d stayed with my parents on Whidbey Island for the two weeks since I’d been home from France. Yesterday they’d dropped me and my gear off at the retirement community, though most of my stuff was still in storage awaiting my “real” apartment. And now I sat in the
common room, not realizing I’d poached what someone considered her personal couch, waiting for the afternoon bus to take me to my new job.

I checked my watch again. To pass the time, I thumbed through the Gideon’s Bible sitting on the side table, flipping by chance to the first chapter of Philippians and scanning the extra large print until my eye caught something that hooked into my heart.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and
more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be
able to discern what is best.

Oh yeah, I thought. Bring on the discernment. I was starting a new job–the job I’d been hoping for all my life and at which I desperately wanted to succeed. And I found myself embroiled in a romantic crisis where I not only didn’t hold all the cards, but the men involved had turned surprisingly poker-faced about their intentions.

Lost in thought, it took me a minute to realize that a kindly looking man had sat down next to me. He tried valiantly, but unsuccessfully, to clear the phlegm from his throat. I scooted over to both accommodate him and to offer us some personal space. He kept looking at me, but as soon as I looked back at him, he glanced away.

Finally he spoke. “Who are you?” he asked quietly. “And what are you doing here?” That was indeed the question, and not only for my current living situation. I wished I had an answer.

Nonna breezed in through the lobby, snapping her mauve umbrella shut with a force that belied her age. She kissed the cheek of her companion, Stanley Jones, who tottered off to his own apartment, then came to get me.

“Lexi, love,” she said. “I’m glad I got here in time to see you off. Let’s wait by the door. The bus will be here soon.” On the way through the foyer, she whispered, “I thought I’d mentioned,
dear–don’t sit on any upholstered furniture in the common areas. When you get to be my age, many of us have incontinence problems.”

Shocked, I reached around and felt my backside, not caring who
saw me. Whew. Dry.

Nonna giggled at my distress, taking everything about aging in stride, as she always did, and looped her arm through mine. “I’m glad you’re home.”

I grinned back at her. “Me too, Nonna.”

“Why can’t one of those nice young men drive you to work today?” she asked.

“I don’t want to ask them. It’s…awkward. I’m not sure where I’m going with either of them right now, and they both have their own jobs.”

“Seems to me a man who likes a woman would offer her a ride,” Nonna sniffed.

“I’m sure plenty of men hitched up their buggies and took you to work back in the day,” I teased.

She grinned wickedly and leaned over to kiss my cheek. “So tell me about the Frenchman.”

“His name is Philippe. He’s really nice, a great baker, and has the most adorable daughter named Céline. He’s taking Luc’s place, the one who moved back to France.”

“He’s one of the owners of the bakery?” she asked, checking creds, as always.

“Yes, Nonna,” I said. “He’s an owner. He’s Luc’s cousin, and the whole family owns all the bakeries.”

“What about that lawyer you were seeing before you went to Paris?”

“Dan?” I kept my voice even.

“Mm-hmm.”

“He’s…here still. Of course. I just talked with him a few days ago. It was his suggestion, actually, for the Delacroix Company to lease the space I’ll be working in. The new bakery.”

“That was nice of him. Who’s the better looking of the two?”

“I’m glad to see your values haven’t changed!” I said, but compared them in my mind anyway.
Philippe was definitely good looking in a continental way, dark blond hair that just touched his shoulders, a bit taller than me. Dan was built bigger, taller, with broad shoulders I loved to see set off by suspenders. His strawberry blond hair perfectly matched his lightly tanned complexion.

“You’re thinking about it, aren’t you?” Nonna poked me out of my daydream. “Gotcha!”

She laughed, and I laughed with her as the rain slid down the outside of the window, my hometown Seattle lights blinking away in the drops. “Thanks for seeing me off today. I won’t be long. Just meeting Margot and getting a quick run-through.”

“Of course I’m seeing you off ! Everyone is jealous that my granddaughter is here. I need to brag.”

I saw the bus rounding the corner about a half mile down the road. Nonna saw it too.

“Go get ’em,” she said. “And bring something home from the bakery. Anything with fruits and nuts will be right at home in this place.” She grinned, but I knew she loved her home and her friends.

I walked out the door and started toward the covered bus stop. Not a moment later, though, a motorcycle pulled up and parked in front of the retirement center door a few feet away. Even with the helmet on, I recognized him immediately.

“Philippe!”

What is he doing here? Quickly followed by, He looks good!

“Good afternoon, mademoiselle.” He hopped off the bike and walked toward me, holding out a helmet. “As your employer, it’s my responsibility to get you to work on your first day at the new job, n’est-ce pas? And I was eager to see you again. Sophie told me where to find you and what bus you were likely to take.”

“Oh, thank you,” I said. I introduced him to Nonna, who’d come running out as soon as she’d seen me talking with a guy. “This is my grandmother, Rosa. Nonna, this is my…friend, Philippe.”

“Enchanté.” Philippe kissed her hand.

“Enchantée,” Nonna responded, pulling back her shoulders and making sure the gathering crowd, their noses pressed against the retirement center’s front windows, witnessed the exchange.

As I got on the back of the bike, I said, “I had no idea you had a motorcycle here. Do you also have a car?”

“Oui,” he said, “I do. Luc left his car for me, and I gave him mine in France. But I thought a motorcycle would be fun too.”

He sped up a little, and as he turned the corner out of the retirement center’s curved driveway, I recognized the truck pulling in.

Dan!

I’d told him I’d be staying with Nonna and had planned to take the bus.

I caught his eye, and he caught mine, and I saw the bouquet of flowers carefully propped in the passenger seat. I had no time to wave before Philippe accelerated and we sped off.

I turned my head and squeezed my eyes shut to avoid seeing Dan’s reaction. Nonna would explain it to him.

Nonna was liable to say anything.

A few minutes later, Philippe pulled the bike up in front of a long, black marble-fronted building in the Fremont district.

“Eh voilà!” he said, parking and then holding a hand out to me. “This is it. Do you like it?”

I took his hand, got off the back of the bike, and looked at the building. There were already two gold fleurs-de-lis over the front door, with the gold-lettered word Bijoux–meaning “jewels,” the
name of the bakery–centered over the door. Otherwise, it was a blank slate.

“It’s beautiful!” I walked to the huge picture windows and looked in. The room was mostly empty, holding only a jumble of boxes and supplies, and some tarps left over from a recent paint job. But what lines, what bones. What this place could be!

A Fabulous Finish to a Fantastic Series
By Sleepy Beth
This is the third in the Lexi Stuart French Twist trilogy and it is hands down the best of the series. Lexi has grown and matured so much through the series (which is kind of the point, I realize) that there are no moments at all when you want to reach into the book and strangle her (there were a few in the first two) - it's just an enjoyable read from start to finish. I actually ended up neglecting a little work so that I could finish it - it's that fun.

In this installment we find Lexi back from her time in France and opening the the new bakery with Margot. Phillipe and Celene have also come from France to Seattle, so there's that possibly budding romance to work out as well as figuring out where her relationship with Dan is headed. In typical Lexi style, she manages to create some fairly big messes for herself before finding her feet at her job and in love - but when she finally gets it, she gets it right in a big way.

This is delightful and highly recommended. If you haven't read the first two, start with those - but get all three at the same time because you'll be desperate for the next as you finish the first ones.

Delicieux!
By Stacey
I have been aching to read Sandra Byrd's "Piece de Resistance". This wonderful novel picks up where "Bon Apetit" left off. Lexi has returned to Seattle from her bakery training in Paris to run the latest Delacroix Bakery. She is running into some challenges and is unsure if she can do it. She hopes that her interpretation of events and her study of Philippians is leading her in the right direction. She is also at a crossroads in her love life. Will she choose Dan, the Seattle lawyer, who makes her heart skip a beat when he enters a room? Or Philippe, the exotic Frenchman with the beautiful little Celine, who has captured Lexi's heart?

Byrd's writing sparkles like the Bijoux Bakery. I was riveted from cover to cover. The suspense builds as the story progresses, drawing the reader into a deep investment into Lexi's personal and professional choices. You'll believe that these characters live right next door to you.

My Favorite "F" Words: Food, French, and Faith!
By M. Smith
With apologies for the impending, irresistible food analogies....I devoured this longed-for sequel to "Let Them Eat Cake" and "Bon Appetit" in one day.

Piece de Resistance picks up exactly where "Bon Appetit" left off; Lexi has decided to move back to Seattle and take on the challenge of launching a specialty bakery for the Delacroix family business. She is enjoying the attentions of both Dan, her attorney friend/potential beau, and Phillipe, the widowed father of the adorable Celine, who have immigrated to Seattle. She also discovers that she's been named the assistant manager of the new bakery, Bijoux. Lexi is forced to take on an unfamiliar role dealing with the business side of the new venture, something that puts her well beyond her comfort zone of baking pans and pastry.

This novel, like the previous two, allows the reader to engage with Lexi because her character is so believable. Sandra Byrd does a great job in avoiding the overly-tidy solution to the challenges Lexi encounters, both in her work venue and in her personal life. I loved a particular situation where Lexi believes she's found inspiration from a Scripture passage, only to have the day dissolve into disaster in spite of it. Rather than being discouraged or bitter, she tunnels through it with wry humor.

It would be limiting to describe this work as "Christian fiction", or "cooking lit" or "chick lit". To confine Sandra Byrd's books to a single category could alienate potential readers. A better description, if one is called for, is that this is fiction, with a decidedly Christian influence and much better-than-average culinary appeal.

Personally, I found all three books in the series very easy to read, engaging, believable and a comfortable fit for my Catholic religious beliefs. I was pleased to observe the author's respectful handling of different faiths, particularly in her first book when Lexi is "church shopping". Overall, this series of books fuels a hunger in both body and soul, and provides the Scripture verses and recipes to feed it!

Great Command of the English Language
By Kindle Customer
Rereading some of her writings aftermany years and found I like her style even more than I thought. She may be a knotch above Dickens. What a command of the language! She begs to beread and reread. Thank Heavens for my Kindle--I can take her anywhere.

Classics
By DulSuemer
George Eliot is a classic writer, and a bold woman to try to swim upstream in a man's world. I have read "Adam Bede", "The Mill on the Floss" and "Silas Marner," [we called it "Silent Murder" in high school back in the 1960's]. These old books paint a good portrait of people of the times, and their fears based so much on what other people think of them. There are some universal, timeless elements that can be extracted into our lives today, but mostly it's good escape reading.

Read and read and read again.

I love the period, the language, the way characters are developed through conversations, the 'good old days', the understanding of human nature.

This book was originally published prior to 1923, and represents a reproduction of an important historical work, maintaining the same format as the original work. While some publishers have opted to apply OCR (optical character recognition) technology to the process, we believe this leads to sub-optimal results (frequent typographical errors, strange characters and confusing formatting) and does not adequately preserve the historical character of the original artifact. We believe this work is culturally important in its original archival form. While we strive to adequately clean and digitally enhance the original work, there are occasionally instances where imperfections such as blurred or missing pages, poor pictures or errant marks may have been introduced due to either the quality of the original work or the scanning process itself. Despite these occasional imperfections, we have brought it back into print as part of our ongoing global book preservation commitment, providing customers with access to the best possible historical reprints. We appreciate your understanding of these occasional imperfections, and sincerely hope you enjoy seeing the book in a format as close as possible to that intended by the original publisher.

The Book Of I Am

This book showes how the Self can be innocent in a pure way of sharing how Being is a Divine Gift. I am amazed by the way the Author sings his connectedness with the entire World... That is in itself very precious. Nice feeling for this concise and yet very precise message to everyone to be love and to include all that IS ....

Opens an EYE on True Self
By Lynda Mattison
The Book of I AM, is much more than words and customary meanings. As I read this work, I entered a space that expanded form with synchronized sound in ways that opened new connections hidden between the old, smaller meanings we are accustomed to . The author speaks from a place where unity begins and he might say, ALL is YOUnity.

I would strongly recommend this very short book as a journey into opening your own YOUnified state. It works on you behind the scenes, so to speak and draws you into a place where you see how the many is one and yet, YOU as YOUnique are the very point where reality is unified.

The Book of I Am
By Jilly
There are very few writers who can bring you to such a Magnificent kingdom of 'being' with so few words. But each one is so carefully brought to life and love and happiness. This book is somewhat reminiscent of Be Here Now by Ram Das and yet completely different. If you want to attain enlightenment and experience and joy every step of the way then buy this book. It is the book of I am by I am and the book is called The Book of I am. Singularly, we all are I am but collectively we are the hope this world has been waiting for. Eternal Love and Light, I am.

Hellish Conspiracy
By Arthur W Jordin
Play with Fire (2012) is the fourth Fantasy novel in the Morris & Chastain series, following Sympathy for the Devil. The initial volume in this sequence is Black Magic Woman.

In this novel, Quincy Harker Morris is an occult investigator. He is from Austin, Texas.

Elizabeth Catherine Chastain is a white witch. Libby and Morris are partners.

Dale Fenton is a Special Agent in the FBI Behavioral Science Section. He is a Black, but uses white magic.

Colleen O'Donnell is a Special Agent in the FBI Behavioral Science Section. She is a white witch.

Barry Love is an occult investigator in New York City. He knows Morris and Chastain from a prior case.

Theron Ware is an agent of Satan. He practices black magic.

In this story, Morris is released from jail. The charges have been dropped and the POTUS has sent him a nice letter. He will add it to his collection.

Libby is waiting for his release. Naturally, the staff is twenty-four minutes late in releasing Morris. Libby blinks her lights and drives the rented car up to the sidewalk to save him a walk. They discuss several things, including food and liquor, but agree that they need to get back to work soon.

They are hired by a Catholic monastery to solve a theft. The thieve has gotten through mundane and occult defenses to steal a five volume set of very rare books. Some of the information in these volumes probably goes back to Solomon.

Their first task is to find someone capable of the deed. The sisters don't know of any person with such skills, except Morris. So they check with another occult investigator.

Barry doesn't know anyone with the skill sets required for the job. He contacts someone else, who gives them a name. While they are there, Libby mixes up a potion than banishes a hellhound.

Meanwhile, Theron and his teams are ritually sacrificing priests to Satan. Then they burn down the religious building with thermite. The FBI Civil Rights Section is investigating the fires as hate crimes.

Colleen and Fenton have discovered that black magic had been used in the first case. They know that the Civil Rights Section agents won't have a clue in this case. So their boss allows Fenton and Colleen to hire Morris and Chastain, but they are busy with their own case. Morris says that they will start on the FBI case as soon as the current one is resolved.

This tale leaks word of the job offer on an unofficial gossip site. Wake reads the site and learns that Morris and Chastain are supposedly investigating his actions. So Wade decides to target the couple.

Ware fails to kill Morris & Chastain. The next installment in this sequence is Midnight at the Oasis. This story and the next novel are also available in a printed format omnibus edition.

Highly recommended for Gustainis fans and for anyone else who enjoys tales of supernatural creatures, occult investigations, and a bit of lust. Read and enjoy!

Blood Royal, by Harold Robbins, Junius Podrug

Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Wales, was an ordinary young woman who was picked to be the future queen. Her wedding was a worldwide sensation. But she was deceived and betrayed before the honeymoon was over. Five months after a fairy tale wedding, she threw herself down a flight of stairs when she was pregnant with a future heir to the throne. Suicide attempts, illicit affairs, and paranoia that there were plots by the Royals to kill her became the norm as the fairy tale turned into a horror story.

After suffering degradation and humiliation at the hands of her husband, the heir to the British throne, she shot him with one of his own antique pistols.
Paranoid that her own attorneys would deceive her, the princess reaches across the Atlantic to hire someone she knows for certain has no ties to the Crown. Marlowe James is an American trial lawyer. Running away from an abusive home, she supported herself by working as a waitress, rising to become a famous trial lawyer.

Marlowe James has been dubbed the "burning bed lawyer" by the news media because of her successful defense of women who killed their abusive husbands. And to top that, she was the accused in her first murder trial. Now she not only has to do battle in the Old Bailey with barristers loyal to the Crown, she has to come to grips with her own feelings about a woman who has been handed everything any woman would desire---and throws it all away.

The explosive tale that will be exposed in the courtroom is one of jealous rage and unfulfilled desires, of sexual deceit by one of the most powerful men on earth---and the bloody revenge enacted by a woman scorned.

Read it if you can
By Indiana Reader
Following the life of Marlowe Jamees, she was a very strong willed teenager that became a strong and accomplished woman in the legal world. Becoming a lawyer and to be called upon to defend the Princess of Wales, that would be the ultimate. She was what many a woman would like to become. If you get the chance read this book.

Above average piece
By A. Tan
This is a work of fiction based on real facts about the Princess of Wales and her turbulent marriage to the heir of the British throne. Its a tale of what if the princess murdered the prince in an act of provocation and revenge. Quite an interesting narrative, although the end is a bit fast and an expected conclusion that does not really pull the whole story together.
