Great book!

I dont usually write reviews but i had to for this book. I first came across the author in evren: enter the dragonette, i loved it so i decided to read her other books as well and am very glad that i did. I agree with K. Pittman when i say that i really wanted to be put off by this book when i first started reading it and realized that it was taking place in a high school. But, those first few pages also had me absoluty in love with the characters and wondering why my high school existence wasnt quite that colorful.
Marian has a very special ability to draw a person into her story, to make them absolutly love her characters no matter how freaky, damaged or confusing they may be. Then when the story is over you are left wanting more, and wishing that she had added just a couple more pages to the book. Or better yet, that she would write the sequel (there is going to be a sequel right!) so that you can find out exactly what happens next. i would definatly recomend this book to friends, and am definatly going to be stalking her page waiting for more of her books to come out.

Good read but a bit confusing

As I start this review, I am still not quite sure what to say. I cant help but wonder if I went to high school in another dimension... was ten years ago a different dimension?
I think I wanted to be put off by this book, but wasnt. Lol. Staying up until 4 a.m. to finish reading is just not something I do for bad books.
The plot was not entirely original; rich, sexually astute male seduces the beautiful yet awkward virgin. We have seen it....
HOWEVER the setting is new, and a bit more than unsettling at first. High School. I was by no means a prude in HS (sorry mom) but holy hannah I never came across anything like this!
Katerina/KC/Senpai is a 17 yr old virgin daughter of a theology professor, with an eye for mangaka. I am still not 100% sure what that is exactly but its a lot sexy. She adores all things Japanese...
Enter, Yuki. Half Japanese, half Russian, 100% 16 yr old hunk heartthrob millionaire. That was hard to write, whereas I am not old enough to be his mom I could be is really older sister. There were times I loved him, or at least liked him a lot, and other times I wanted smack the sh-- out of him! Poor Yuki is pretty messed up.
Theirs is quite the tumultuous relationship... erm, arrangement? I dont know where to begin to describe it. Its Christian & Ana for teenagers. Where they dont actually have sex, there is plenty of talk and acts leading up to it.
Without my even being aware it drew me in and swept me away. This is a NINJA book, very sneaky indeed. If you are looking for something other than the typical cookie cutter plot, with a very unique set of characters, something that will have your head in shambles for a bit... THIS IS YOUR BOOK! Ms. Tee your ability to form unique characters with funny quirks and heart breaking flaws, leaves me in awe of you! My hats off. Bloody, bloody, bloody.
3 out of 4 stars. My asian CONfusion and a few holes held back a star. I need to know more of WHY/how this girl knows more about Japan than she has a right to. I was so confused.

straddling the fine line between smut and romance

same as the author - i've been wanting to read a YA book that sounds like 50 Shades without the BDSM. Yuki is such a sweetheart hidden under the bad boy personality, while KC reacts like the typical teenager - with a twist. I love the fact that she stands for her ideals even under pressure, this book makes you realize all the fun you can have without actually having sex. if you're looking for a sweet, thrilling, and absolutely titillating book to read, then this is it.
