are going through hard times. It has various sections for different types
of hardships. Almost everyone can relate to at least one category.

The wife bought one for son-in-law. I was so impressed that I bought one for myself. Prayers/reflections/devotionals organized by themes for those times when we really NEED God but aren't sure how to connect with Him.

Very Comforting!

When I found this book and scanned through some of the pages, it was a 'must buy'! Later when reading it, I could find what it was I needed to pray about. I also have a some friends who are going through some tough times and I believe this little book would be a BIG blessing to them. I plan on buying 5 books so I can give them to those who might find it, as I did, to be comforting. A GREAT little book!

I was having a problem with inter-dog aggression

I adopted a rescue dog who is displaying aggression toward other dogs. I tried a dog obedience class and it seemed to make things worse. After getting this book, I now understand I was dealing with fear aggression. Working with her one-on-one has definitely helped. At the very least, it has helped me understand the different types of aggression. I can now identify the signs. The training is easy to follow and works. My dog "got" the leash lesson immediately. I highly recommend this book.

Dangerous and poorly researched

This book appears to be about how to 'fix' aggression by correcting it using punishment.
Also, I would like to see the research that suggests that a dog can see his owner as a 'subordinate dog'.
Dangerous advice and not worth the two pounds I paid for it.
For a book about understanding aggression and actually helping your dog through it, you can't go wrong looking at David Ryan's excellent 'Dogs that bite and fight'.

Excellent but wish it had one thing...

I love this book. I have Volume 1 and 3, and I plan on buying volume 2 soon. What it's missing is the name of the books in the corners of the pages like the bibles do because when I want to find a quick verse or go to a certain book I have to look through the pages until I find the beginning of the book to locate the title or I have to look up the page number. But this is no big deal, these volumes are meant for research and I think they are excellent!

Deborah H. Bateman is a woman who loves the Bible and is gifted in writing about it in all her Bible study e-books. Her new Bible study of "Psalm 119: Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet" is wonderful. The way she presents Psalm 119 is in a loving, mature, inspiring and direct way. She helps me to see through King David's eyes and what was going on historically at this time.
I love how she includes the Hebrew Alphabet and the meaning of the letters and numbers connected to each one. Deborah's questions at the end of each lesson are good and help one to think about God and each person's daily connection to Him. The prayer concludes each lesson and they delight my heart as I love praying and love it when others pray. Great Bible study on Psalm 119: "Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet!"

I recently started buying Deborah Bateman's Kindle Edition e-books as short Bible Studies I use to start my day. I was delighted to find each of her books, just what I needed. Deborah's goal is to share the Word of God with simplicity and love. To give you a short burst of comfort and illumination for the day ahead. Without having to look up the original Hebrew and Greek words, and ponder over deeply provoking thoughts, she shares the deepest meaning of the Scriptures she is sharing, enabling you to easily apply it to your day. I have now bought 3 of her books and I am extremely happy with all of them. What a great way to start the morning. I highly recommend her other two books: Give Thanks and How to Live a Blessed Life based on the Sermon on the Mount.

My favorite Psalm ~~ A good study time

Here once again is an excellent study from Deborah , she has a way of helping me/us/ to get to do daily lessons and take some time out to follow along with Gods word and learn what his promises are for us . This is in my opinion the best way to get to do a personal study and that is to have someone come along side and do it with you ,I love having Deborah with me as I approach the lesson to learn in her book. She offers you plenty to think about as you travel through her sessions.

This is the story of four ordinary men, brothers, whose life choices and careers were rudely interrupted by WW2. What they did, largely in India and the Far East,is typical of the generation of the 1940s that put down their tools, picked up their rifles and fought stolidly through to the end (or not, in the case of one of the four) without expecting any untoward recognition. The touching story of their tenuous contact with home through their letters is also a reminder of the stresses suffered on the Home Front, in this case on the island of Jersey, adding a fascinating insight into a part of Britain under occupation. Beautifully presented in a sequence of letters, narrative and photographs that are easy to follow, the account of the four is always interesting, often poignant; the author had every reason to tell an emotional, even mawkish, story being the son of one and nephew of the other three, but by keeping strictly factual throughout he lets the book make its own impact. The social history of this country is the richer for this sort of booklet, and would that there were more of them.

Compelling and absorbing

This compelling and absorbing story kept me up all hours of the night. Told in the first person, it is the story of a magnetic pole reversal that causes global chaos and disaster. A doctor finds herself separated from her family, and is trying desperately to reach them at their cabin. On the way, she meets Isolde, who eventually leads her to Atlantis, which is risen from the sea. Can they save their world, and what is the purpose of the crystals they find there? I don't want to give spoilers, so I'll leave it to you to find out...

The story was interesting, and held my attention until the very end. The back and forth between the characters was very real, and though this is obviously a fantasy / alternative world piece of fiction, it never felt forced or false. The writer was very good at keeping tension going, and I am absolutely psyched about reading a second novel by the author.

I give it five stars, and I sincerely hope this author has a long, fruitful career. This was everything I like about fantasy fiction: Tense, believable, with a well-drawn world that sucks you into believing while you are reading. I was almost sorry when it ended.

Atlantis found. Government wants it and people with newly discovered extra sensory/mental abilities refuse to allow it to happen. It all gets resolved with very little violence. A great story.

Meet Me in Atlantis is a futuristic road trip filled with imagery and the hope of brighter tomorrows; with the ever looming presence of a military force that does not want to lose its grip on what’s left of society.

But, before I begin – let me say that it is important to remember the timeframe of this book – and more importantly – how it was written. We literally meet our heroine post-disaster. The end has already come – and there are survivors! However, the survivors come from a different world [a slightly different Earth – but the same Earth]; and without giving away too much . . . some of the inhabitants are, shall we say – unusual. Alien? Oh, no – I’ll let you discover that for yourself.

Anyway, on this Earth, the inhabitants have embraced their inner most selves, and draw upon their mental prowess – far more than we do today. Psychic endeavors are a way of life for them; and hard for us to relate to – as ‘we’ are barely conscious pond scum – [try saying that five time fast, I dare ya!]

Meet Me in Atlantis spans a fourteen day period [that’s all] and its charm is reminiscent of a diary – a post –apocalyptic diary, written to record and preserve the memory of what was, what is – and what will be; as our heroine struggles with the separation she feels from her husband and children [not knowing if she will ever see them again, while spending every waking moment dreaming of their reunion]; as she struggles to survive and adapt to new surroundings, new threats – and new people.

The end leaves you with hope! I can’t wait for book 2 – for the reunion I know is coming, and all the adventures in-between [for our heroine and her beloved family] – and her ‘new friends’. And if military factions will stay ‘butt-out’ we will have a happily– ever –after for the ages! [But you know how those types are.]

Loved these as a kid and now my kids love to listen to them

First off the Encyclopedia Brown series of books are great for getting kids to think logically about problems. They are short enough to be flipped through easily but well written to not make them too simple like others in the genre. Also love this Kindle Format where the stories are hyperlinked off the table of contents page and the solutions are hyperlinked at the end of a story. Additionally, you are hyperlinked to the next story in the book. This is a great book for kids.

My son, who does not like to read, is suddenly a reader!

That statement enough should convince you to buy one of these books as a test. I bought one book for my son, who is 11 and suffers from Asperger's. He has never been a reader and even has no interest in the Harry Potter series. He has enjoyed Encyclopedia Brown so much that he took a book on a weekend getaway with us.

These are the same books I enjoyed as a child. They do not seem to have been updated or make politically correct for today's sheltered youth. There is no objectionable or even questionable language. Encyclopedia Brown is respectful, decent and helpful. I am delighted that my child, who has had no love for reading, read the first of these books in one day.

Good book for introducing mystery to young readers.

I got this for my 12 year old who has developed an interest in reading. I wanted him to try mysteries. He enjoyed the story very much, however he wanted me to rate it 4 stars because he felt the main character was immature and naive, this made the mystery drag a little. My son felt this book would be more for the 8-10 year old range.

Brown, uses his expertise gained through a long and successful career to guide us through understanding what makes a veteran and what benefits are out there for our veterans.

This book was especially helpful to me coming from a long line of military veterans including my grandfather who is a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps, my dad who served 24 years in the Navy, and my husband who is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I had no idea there were so many programs and benefits available to them.

My husband was single when he was in the military. He was already separated from the military when we were married so I never thought to look into any benefits he may be entitled to.

I remember it being a hard transition for our family when my dad retired from the Navy. This book would have been invaluable to helping us get accustomed to civilian life. It explains in a thorough manner everything you need to know about separating from the military and the entitlements due you in return for your service to our country.

This book offers comprehensive information on departing from the military, retirement, medical care, home loans, education, disability benefits, life insurance, benefits for surviving spouses and families, grants and more. The appendix is an abundant and complete reference well worth the purchase of this book all by itself.

Author Bruce C. Brown has given our veterans an indispensable guide to help them navigate the rough waters of separation from the armed forces. This is a difficult time for veterans and I am grateful to Commander Bruce C. Brown for creating this book to help make things smoother and easier for our veterans.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has served our nation or is a family member of a veteran. It is a must have guide to helping you transition to civilian life and receive the benefits you have earned.

Great source of information for Veterans!

I don’t think as Americans we can thank our heroic service men and women enough for their military service. When they are discharged or retire from the military, they must make the big adjustment and it can be tough for them to navigate civilian waters. This book (that includes charts) is written in a clear and concise manner by a veteran of the United Starts army to serve as a navigation tool to help discharged military men and women smoothly transition to civilian life. It covers topics ranging from healthcare, home loans, homelessness, education benefits and much, much, more.
Of great interest to the readers seeking education entitlements would be the information on Post-9/11 GI Bill which can be transferred from a Veteran to their offspring to help offset cost of college.
Some of the valuable information contained in this book may be available in other places like websites suggested in this book, still it is a Big Plus to have so much beneficial information packed in one place and not have to spend hours upon hours searching all over the place.
Also, as an added bonus in getting this book - a portion of the proceeds will go to local non-profit organizations in need of assistance in the memory of the author’s dog Bear.

Every veteran should have a copy of this book. I bought a copy for my son!
