A Refreshing New Voice in Comedic Fantasy Fiction

Death, The Devil and The Goldfish is funny, creative, inventive, interesting, different, imaginative, well written, well crafted and an overall joy to read.
Andrew Buckley's style and humour follows comfortably on and sits confidently next to the titans of the genre: Dogulas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Doug Naylor etc.
If you are a fan of any of their work then you will find the witty satire, the strong intriguing characters and the involved, inventive nature of the plot perfect for you and a thoroughly enjoying read.

Going to Sue the writer.

I recently picked up Buckley's Death, the Devil, and the Goldfish and i have a few things to say about this literary work of him.
First of all, i am the kind of guy that gladly judges a book by it's cover, and the cover of this book is amazing.
HOWEVER, since i commute every day, i got most of my reading done on the bus which causes a few awkward situations for me and i am therefore going to sue the author.
On more than one occasion, Buckley's book made me grunt out loud, making me look like a maniac. I was grunting, because i was doing my very best to suppress a bellow of laughter, resulting in a throathy, grunt'ish hobo sound.
I think this behavior has severely lowered my desirability towards my fellow female travelers, leaving me cold and alone all winter.
Therefore, i am deducting a single star from this otherwise excellent piece of work, and Buckley can expect a lawsuit any time soon.

Death, the Devil and The Goldfish

Death, the Devil and the Goldfish.
What a weird title, I thought. What can these three possibly have in common ?
But little did I know that, when I started reading this extremely well written, brilliantly imaginative story, it would draw me right into its own world.
The Prologue really impressed with the Quote :
"No one needs to buy skin. We are all born with it; it's waterproof, durable, and available in a wide range of colours."
So "I present to you A Proposal for Global Public Nudity!" AND
"So I propose that we strip away our inhibitions and bare to the world our true selves," he finished with a flourish.
How ingenious is that!
And "so" my decision was made: "I really want to read the story of Death, the Devil and the Goldfish"
And it doesn't disappoint in the least!
In one fluent sweep the writer draws you into his story and the characters really come alive !
Very funny, enormously entertaining, original and witty. I can strongly recommend this to anyone who likes a bit of "innovative" and "different" approach to a fun filled story !
