As all William Barclay's commentary's they are very good for preaching and teaching. They are usually pretty much the same quality as the last or the next. They are better for the teacher and otherwise learner than for the theologian. Barclay writes from the overflow of his extensive learning. Even the dedicated theologian can learn something for his writing.
This commentary series for been around, with some few changes since the 1950s. You can feel the dedicated nature of Barclay in his writings. He was a man that was dedicated to Christ Jesus and to the New Testament.
