Didn't get it

Reading through the rave reviews from others on this book, I could not wait to read it. But towards the middle of the book I felt like I got on the wrong train heading in the opposite direction from everyone else. I wanted to like this book - it had all the right elements and had the makings of a quirky, funny book. Unfortunately, it failed to either intrigue me or to be humorous in the slightest. And there is nothing wrong with my sense of humour - I'm usually the first one to laugh about something. I've never come across comedic situations like these that were not funny at all. Instead I grew irritated with how obtuse characters were. I mean really, the guy is a sheriff and he cannot figure out that she is not the bank robber - even when he has three women who look alike standing in front of him?! He needed to be shot. And while the female lead had the makings of a great heroine, she was uninteresting. You're in love with someone who loves you back and he just doesn't have the guts to break it off with his intended because he gave his word?? If a guy does not have to guts to fight for you, he does not deserve you, sister! By the last third of the book I was skipping passages to get to the end. With the exchange rate going downhill given our currency, this was a waste of money for me.

Entertaining reading from beginning to end!

This is one of the most colorful, refreshing reads in a long time! Carol Carson has written a splendid first novel, and shows true signs of brilliance. Rarely is a novel about the old-west written with such strong degrees of humor, passion, and character. I adored this book, and was surprised by how quickly the book read. Cheers to Carol Carson, and I am already looking for her follow-up novel!
