Gets better as you progress

Without any spoilers I have to say the first book of the three, "The Rings of Time" absolutely stinks. The best word I can use to describe it is "juvenile." I believe it had to have been written by a 15 year old girl. Lady Gaga? Bloggers? The writer tries to go all "JJ Abrams" with this trying to make it hip and trendy but it falls flat. The story is contrived and cliché. The conclusion of the story seems like the bell rang for last period and the teacher said "Hand in your papers" so they wrote the first thing that came to mind.
That being said, "That Which Divides" is a very decent read.
"Forgotten History" is GREAT. It is classic Trek in every sense and I highly recommend it.
If you're hard-core, buy the compilation. If you don't have time or money to waste buy them in reverse order individually.
